Every brand finds themselves in the midst of wondering, “how do we present ourselves on social media??” While forgetting that is engrained in your brand.

When you create your brand guidelines, you’re creating the framework for every single thing in your brand. There may not be a social media section (yet–because there should be) but the clues as to how to create that section are ever present in what you already have in your brand guide. Let me explain:

  1. Look at the values that your brand originally settled upon.
Do those still align with the company you’re presenting to the world? If not maybe consider a brand makeover or refresh!
  2. Think about how a person with those values would talk.
How would they engage the people they were friends with–your customers. This lens will play an important part in centering your brand!
  3. Teamwork makes more than dreamwork–it makes a brand.
If you have a team, work with that team to decide what the brand sounds like–and leave room to edit the values if everyone is noticing the values aren’t aligning with where the brand is going.
  4. Inspiration is key–no matter what you’re doing.
Review other social media accounts and assess what they’re doing right and what you like about it, how does your brand voice compare to theirs? Once you’ve established those, create a list of things you wouldn’t do as well.

These tips can be a great place to start. If you need help creating a brand identity, imagining who your brand is as a person or aligning your values I’d love to set up a consultation to help you achieve your strongest brand identity possible.
